Through the Department of Registration and Control of Associations of the Nicaraguan Ministry of the Interior (Migob), the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo canceled four foreign non-profit organizations.
The NGOs beheaded by the dictatorship are Green Clinic, originally from the United States, registered since May 15, 2008 under the perpetual number 4117, the Development Cooperation Fund (FOS) of Belgium, registered since November 8, 1999, under the perpetual number 1473.

It was also outlawed Catholic Agency for International Development (CAFOD), originally from the United Kingdom, registered since October 2, 2006 under the perpetual number 3481 and the International Christian Service for Peace (EIRENE), originally from Germany, registered since November 21, 2002, under the perpetual number 2382.
The cancellations were made official through La Gaceta, Official Gazette. According to the Migob, the four foreign organizations “failed to comply with their obligations under the Laws on the matter that regulate Non-Profit Organizations, in Nicaraguan territory, by not registering as Foreign Agents. being Obliged Subjects of Law 1040 “Foreign Agents Regulation Law”.
NGOs “did not align” with Ortega’s impositions
According to the government entity, the organizations “annihilated” by the Ortega regime did not report financial statements with detailed breakdowns (income, expenses, trial balance, details of donations with origin, provenance and final beneficiary), “in accordance with Article 14, subsection b, of the Regulations of Law 977».
The regime points out that the boards of directors of the country of origin were not reported for more than four years, much less the identity of their funders and previous donations from abroad.
Another of the Government’s arguments to annul the legal personalities is based on the “action of the 04 NGOs, hindered the control and surveillance of the Department of Registration and Control of Associations of the MIGOB, as the regulatory entity could not identify the legal representatives, directors, domicile and administration of funds of the organization, not knowing the execution of the same and if they are in accordance with their objectives and purposes for which they were authorized to register in Nicaragua.
Assets could pass to the State
According to the verdict of the Ministry of the Interior, the registration and perpetual number of the four organizations is canceled as of the date, “due to non-compliance with the laws on the matter in Nicaragua.”
As has happened with the more than 100 outlawed NGOs, the goods and assets of the NGOs will be liquidated prior to liquidation. “If nothing has been arranged about it, the provisions of article 25 of Law 147 will apply,” the publication details.
