According to the study, 31% of working people would prioritize other benefits over vacations. Among the other benefits are having a good salary, the ‘home office’ or the possibility of working from anywhere in the world, bonuses or additional economic incentives, among others.
In this regard, the commercial director of Bumeran in Peru, Miguel Bechera, stated that now people “value more control over their time and compensation according to their efforts.”
On the other hand, the report revealed that 43% of workers took work vacations in the last year, while 57% did not. Among those who did not take it, 31% said that changing jobs was the main reason.
Others who did not take vacations did so because they did not have the necessary financial resources, and because they focused on other personal or professional goals. There is also a group that did not find a suitable period in their agenda.
Regarding the vacation period, 50% indicate that they enjoy between 20 and 30 days; 21% have between 10 and 15 days; 11% between 5 and 10 days; and another 11% have less than five days.
“In certain organizations, there is a tendency to offer an additional week of vacation, in addition to what is established by law. However, only 10% of workers claim to have this benefit in their jobs,” Bumeran said.
