Four members of two groups dedicated to extortion were captured in procedures carried out by agents assigned to the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas) of the Bolivarian National Guard, according to military sources.
One of the operations was carried out in the La Pomona sector, Maracaibo municipality, Zulia state, in response to investigation order No. GNB-CONAS-GAES-11-ZULIA-ADE-0528-22, for the crime of extortion.
Three cousins who were members of the “Mauricio Luzardo” criminal group, identified as Gregorio Emiro Perea Meleán, Víctor Rutilio Bohórquez Meleán and Luigy Enríquez Bohórquez Meleán, were arrested at that site.
The aforementioned subjects are in charge, within the criminal structure, of collecting information from the victims to later provide it to the negative leader of this criminal organization. Then the leader of the gang ordered the victim to demand a large sum in dollars in exchange for not attempting on his life and his family nucleus, according to the investigations.
And in the La Lucha sector, Angostura del Orinoco municipality (Ciudad Bolívar), Conas officials arrested Edwin Javier Torres Chacón, a member of the El Churry criminal group, who was denounced by a victim of his extortion practices.
The subject was seized a revolver, Smith & Wesson, model .38, with no visible serial number, five cartridges of the same caliber, a telephone set and an Empire Horse motorcycle, license plate AK0B07D.
The detainees will be prosecuted for the crime of extortion, among others.
