Four dead in shooting attack in Rio de Janeiro square

A shooting attack left four dead and three injured on Sunday night (18) in Vila Isabel, in the northern part of the city of Rio de Janeiro. According to the Military Police, criminals fired gunshots at several people who were in Barão de Drumond square.Four dead in shooting attack in Rio de Janeiro square

The square was full at the time of the attack. Two young people died at the scene and two more died upon admission to hospitals, one at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (HUPE) and the other at the Andaraí Federal Hospital.

According to the Civil Police, the dead are Gabriel Pereira Candido, 24 years old; Pedro Henrique Pereira dos Santos, 18 years old; Pedro Henrique Barbosa da Conceição, also 18 years old; and Thailon Martins Lucas, 17 years old.

The three injured people are in the Andaraí Hospital. According to the Military Police, the criminals responsible for the attack fled the scene and policing was reinforced in the square after the incident.

The Civil Police reported that the Capital Homicide Division is investigating the case, an expert analysis has already been carried out at the scene and investigations are underway to determine the authorship and motivation of the crime.
