At least four dead people and 90 wounds have been the balance of the explosion on Wednesday of a pipe that transported gas in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office, in Mexico City.
In statements to the media from the site of the incident, the head of government of the Mexican capital, Clara Brugada, said that of the injured, 10 already were discharged.

According to the authorities, the explosion occurred around 2:25 in the afternoon, local time, after the vehicle with 49,500 liters of gas turns in the Puente de la Concordia area.
The truck was identified and is part of the transport company Silza, SA de CV, a company that has transport permits before the National Energy Commission and that is part of Grupo Tomza.
Expansive wave
Brugada said that the outbreak generated an “expansive wave” that affected nearby vehicles and that the causes were being investigated.
The head of government of the capital shared in her official X account a preliminary list of hospitalized persons and pointed out that it will be updated according to the medical needs of the injured.
The authorities work to conclude the expert opinion already initiated by the Prosecutor’s Office of Justice of Mexico City. The Prosecutor’s Office reported at night in a statement that the inquiries were underway, according to CNN.
It was also learned that 28 vehicles were damaged, including 10 that were already removed and registered for possible future claims.
Solidarity and presidential support
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, sympathized with the relatives of the deceased and the injured.
He pointed out that the National Civil Protection, National Guard Coordination, Secretariat of Defense and the Network of Hospitals of the Government of Mexico collaborate with Brugada and the authorities of Mexico City to serve those affected. At the time, he expressed his recognition to the emergency bodies that worked on this unfortunate event.
