MIAMI, United States. — Four people died and another 42 were injured in a mass transit accident that occurred this Wednesday morning in the municipality of Los Arabos, province of Matanzas.
The Provincial Government of People’s Power in Matanzas reported in social media that the incident occurred in the population settlement of Crucero Hondo, located about two kilometers from the municipal seat of Los Arabos.
Although that body did not specify details of the accident, the provincial radio station radius 26 indicated that the event occurred around 7:45 in the morning when a passenger truck that covered the route between Los Mangos and Los Arabos ended up overturning on the side of the road.
Major Eddy Estévez Rodríguez, head of Traffic in the province of Matanzas, told local media that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to a bad maneuver at the wheel, for which he ended up hitting a tree.
The Provincial Government of People’s Power in Matanzas indicated that among the injured were six minors.
At least 22 injured were taken to the Doctor Mario Muñoz Monroy hospital, in the municipality of Colón, without any deceased being registered there until noon.
The report adds that four patients are in critical condition: three are currently receiving surgical treatment and another is also being evaluated for an intervention.
The state press highlights that the medical emergency service in the province has worked quickly and has allowed the transfer of victims to specialized centers in the territory.
