The department of Meta hosted for more than five days, the 54th version of the Joropo International Tournament, where the city of Villavicencio was the epicenter of different activities for tourists and residents who enjoyed horseback riding, the national and international reign of the joropodances and above all the economic reactivation of the entrepreneurs, who had the opportunity to sell their products, without making payments for the stands, looking for the department to consolidate an economy as a result of tourism and no longer depend on hydrocarbons.

Likewise, the attendees have enjoyed musical shows by national artists such as Yeison Jiménez, Charrito Negro, Herencia de Timbiquí, El ‘Cholo’ Valderrama, Guayacán, Grupo Niche, among others.

But the main attraction was in the joropodromo, in which throughout Avenida 40 the llaneros were able to observe different groups who put together their choreographies to the rhythm of the zapateo, gave a great folkloric sample of the llanera dance. In it there were many categories, which for the first time saw people with physical disabilities being part of this festival with a pleasant dance in a wheelchair.

Likewise, some citizens with cognitive disabilities also demonstrated that there were no limitations to give cultural samples. of great height, something that was accompanied by some troupes and representative decorations of the department that its main matter the grain and the fruits.

And despite the torrential downpour that invaded the city, this was not an impediment for the groups to continue delighting the attendees who were excited with each step the dancers took.

In addition, tourists were able to see the election and coronation of Miss Huila as the new national queen of Joropo who fell in love with the public. with his outstanding presentation dancing this typical dance of the region and that was the equivalent of 70% of the jury’s evaluation.

With these recreational activities, the city together with the department expects to collect more than 120 billion pesos, dshowing that Meta has grown as the most important department of ecotourism in the country.
