The General Directorate for Crime Prevention (DPD) held the “School Bullying and Family Planning” Forum, with a presentation by the deputy of the National Assembly (AN), Genesis Garvett, and the protector of Women’s Rights, Yirley Rodríguez, in order to raise awareness and create tools to combat the scourge of bullying that affects children and adolescents in the country’s schools.
The meeting was held through the Instagram platform, and was born within the framework of the Day Against School Bullying, where Deputy Genesis Garvett indicated that these spaces seek to cultivate values for peace in youth. “School bullying consists of three actors, the harasser, the victim and those who are part of this and do not report it, becoming accomplices and for fear of being the target of the aggressor,” she clarified.
Garvett stressed that television and video games are the root of violence, since they are the ones that promote wars, fights, and these situations are recorded in the subconscious.
In this regard, he recalled that the Public Prosecutor is taking measures to sanction all types of aggression and bullying. He also stressed that in Venezuela physical, verbal and psychological aggression are typified in each of the laws for the protection of the people.
Similarly, he explained that, from the AN, the draft Student Participation Law and the Peaceful Coexistence Law are being debated, in order to combat bullying from values, refers to a press release from the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and peace.
