Forum brought together 30 delegations from universities from all over the country in Encarnación

More than 30 delegations from private universities met at the UNAE in Encarnación to reflect and discuss the future of Higher Education in Paraguay together with the highest authorities in the field of education.

The host, Dr. Nadia Czeraniuk, Rector of the Autonomous University of Encarnación UNAE, Vice President of the APUP, gave the welcome remarks, highlighting the great social work carried out by the Private Universities that contain more than 70% of the national enrollment.
The president of the APUP, Eng. Luis Lima, referred to the need to incorporate the hybrid modality, which must be organized and authorized by CONES, a system implemented during the pandemic.
The inaugural conference was given by the Minister of Education Ricardo Nicolás Zárate, who presented the Educational Transformation Plan, mentioning that higher education is not contemplated in this plan, however its implication is essential since, for example, it is in charge of training undergraduate and graduate degrees of teachers.

While the president of CONES, Presbítero Narciso Velázquez, president of CONES, presented the new resolution of the organization that grants a new maximum period of 2 years for the implementation of the credit system at the university level, which implies a great challenge since Curricular, administrative, and organizational reforms are needed.
Two panels dealt with the issue of quality and Accreditations and the reform of teacher training.

In the first panel moderated by Kitty Gaona, president of the Council of Rectors, the president of ANEAES Dr. Dina Matiauda who made announcements regarding new ways of evaluating careers by cluster (groups of related careers such as those in the business area).
The second panel was moderated by Sanie Romero, Rector of UNIBE, and panelists by Valentina Canese, Director of the Aula Pyahu project, and Nancy Oilda Benitez, Director of Professional Training for Educators at the MEC.
The participants were divided into 3 working groups around the themes: Educational Transformation, Teacher Training Reform, Quality and Accreditation.
The tables presented conclusions, among which the need to improve the level of graduation of secondary school students, the vast majority of whom do not have the necessary skills for university studies, stands out.
