The winning goal was scored in the final stretch of the game, when, in the 36th minute, the Argentine forward Depietri took advantage of the wrong exit by goalkeeper Douglas in the goal kick and advanced alone to kick cross and define the game.
The result took Fortaleza to 55 points, in 5th position, a classification that has already guaranteed the presence of northeasterners in the Copa Libertadores da América, with only a definition of whether it will be directly in the group stage or in the previous qualifying stage.

Juventude is still at risk of being relegated to Serie B. The Gauchos are in 15th place with 43 points, just three from Z4 and two games to finish the competition. Juventude’s next game will be against São Paulo on Monday (6) at Morumbi. On the same day, Fortaleza returns to the field to visit Cuiabá.
