“Mr. Attorney General, I clarify that my daughter is a lawyer, graduated 18 years ago,” declared Leslis del Valle Moronta López, mother of the lawyer Analy del Valle González Moronta, who was detained last Saturday in Maracaibo (Zulia) by agents of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) assigned to the Urban Security Detachment (Desur).
Mrs. Leslis Moronta, who was a judge in Zulia, said she was alarmed by the publication launched by the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, of a photo of her daughter and a writing in which it reads that: “the false lawyer Analy González was apprehended to be charged and deprived of liberty by the Public Ministry.”
In this regard, Leslis Moronta asked the Attorney General to correct such publication, given that her daughter is a lawyer who graduated from the University of Zulia 18 years ago. “And her Inpreabogado (Lawyer’s Social Welfare Institute) is number 125,785; you can verify it,” said Moronta, who downloaded from the website of the Supreme Court of Justice sentence No. 077-18 issued by the Third Chamber of the Court of Appeals of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the state of Zulia, case VP03-R-2017-001476, which reads: “The legal professional ANALY GONZÁLEZ, registered in the Lawyer’s Social Welfare Institute under number 125,785, acting as Private Defender of citizen LUIS GABRIEL FERNÁNDEZ, filed an appeal…”
Leslis Moronta commented that, since her daughter’s arrest, she visited the GNB headquarters where they told her that “by order of the Superior Prosecutor of Zulia they could not give any information.” From there they sent her to the Public Ministry where they recommended that she go to the Palace of Justice, where they informed her that “we have nothing against Analy here.”
“I ask the Prosecutor to ensure the rights of my daughter; that is, her right to protect her honor, reputation and presumption of innocence. Announcing once and for all that my daughter is going to be deprived of liberty is anticipating a decision that only the court can make,” said former judge Leslis Moronta.
