The ex Cuban volleyball player Regla Torres, a three-time Olympic champion with the Cuban national team, will be part of the technical team of the Russian Uralochka team, currently directed by the legendary Nikolay Karpol.

The new responsibility entrusted to the Cuban, facing the Russian Volleyball Super League, will contribute to her professional development and that of this sport on the island, reports the media.
After the 2002 world championship Regla Torres decided to retire as an active player. In that decade she began her studies of physical culture and she was linked to the Cuban Volleyball Federation. She was designated in the female technical group, with which she has participated in different international tournaments.
“After working with the Cuban youth teams, I asked the Federation for the possibility of joining Uralochka. They accepted because it was an excellent opportunity to work with Nikolay Karpol. Also to help the young Cubans of the club, ”he said in a interview published on the club’s website.
Two Cuban players appear on the current roster of the Russian club: the opposite Yalain Regla de la Peña and the central defender Dayana Martínez, recalls Jit.
The once-brilliant centre-back will now have the opportunity to closely follow her young national team students, whom she will guide through their first forays into the Russian women’s volleyball championship.
