Former Vice Minister of Mines Jorge Chávez Cresta assured that the current minister of the sector, Carlos Palaciosdid not reject that partisan appointments are being made in favor of those close to Peru Libre within the sector.
Speaking to RPP this Saturday, one day after submitting his resignation letter, Chávez Cresta gave details of the conversation he had with the minister who took office as part of Aníbal Torres’ Cabinet.
“(The minister) did not refute any of the aspects related to the party slogans. None. He did not mention it, but simply tried to explain to me if he could count on my services later, which, as evidenced in my letter of resignation, cannot be possible ”he stated.
Jorge Chávez reiterated what he stated in his resignation letter; that there is an appointment of people close to Peru Libre as is the case of the head of the Cabinet of Advisors, David Fernando Caballero Llanos, and the secretary general Loly Wider Herrera Lavado.
“It is worrying that there is also a takeover in the administrative part and with rapid speed. It is strange that the appointment of officials is in the framework when an authority comes to occupy the ministry. What is recommended from every point of view is to wait for the vote of confidence and see how the ministry is working”he questioned.
The former deputy minister said that Carlos Palacios, when he expressed his criticism for the appointments of people close to Peru Libre without experience, explained these actions by pointing out that they were professionals who had not had the opportunity to work in this sector.
“When I expressed this to the minister, he told me that although it is true that they were appointing one or another official, it was because they had not had the opportunity to have received, in the course of their development, due to lack of economics or opportunities, that professional development […] But unqualified people cannot be placed in important positions in the sector”he warned.
