The ex-burgomaster of the province of Canchis, Jorge Quispe Callo, was prosecuted for at least 7 cases of corruption. Along with him, 14 other people were also sentenced.
The former mayor of the provincial municipality of Canchis, region Cusco, Jorge Quispe Callowas sentenced to 12 years in prison, for the crimes of bribery and collusion. Along with the ex-authority, 14 other implicated were also sentenced, including former officials and civilians.
Those sentenced were investigated for being part of the criminal organization The Curacas of the Southwhich was led by the former burgomaster during 2019 and 2020. According to the Public ministry, Quispe Callo requested gifts from businessmen, potential suppliers, in order to grant them the award of goods and services in the province he directed.
The former mayor was prosecuted for at least seven cases of corruption. Among them, for having requested S/100,000 and a new van to be a provider of a van for the municipality; for apparently charging S/20,000 to a company to benefit from the Glass of Milk process and other similar charges to businessmen.
The others sentenced together with the former burgomaster, who must serve a custodial sentence of four to eleven yearsare: Daniel Alvis Ochoa, Freddy Ponce de Leon Ccosco, Rene Wilfredo Challco Hallasi, Matheus Exequiel Guzman Samata, José Mollo Jordan, Graciano Romero Saya, Ananí Zeballos Sifuentes, Delfina Zamata Rodriguez, Rheyver Perez Rado, Wilfredo Abarca Quispe, Edwin Yarin Quispe Benique and Moises Quispe Cahuana.
Meanwhile, Junior De La Cruz Quispe and Karin Isabel Jamanca Hervacio received a suspended custodial sentence of four years. They must abide by rules of conduct.
Modus operandi of the criminal organization
