Former PRI member Alejandra del Moral will be the director of Amexcid

Before running as a candidate, Del Moral had worked in the Secretariat of Social Development in the state government of Alfredo del Mazo Maza, whom the PRI accused after the electoral process of “having handed over the state to Morena.”

In May 2024, Alejandra reappeared in a photograph with the then presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. There his resignation from the PRI was finalized.

“We reflect on the future of our country and find more coincidences than differences: continue building a Mexico for all, with justice, democracy, freedoms and shared prosperity. It is time for women and it is time for transformation. I thank you for your decision to join our project in favor of the people of Mexico,” Sheinbaum said at that time.

After the photo was spread on social networks and the media, the PRI assured that it was the latest evidence that Alfredo del Mazo’s administration had helped Morena come to power. A few days later, the former governor was expelled from the ranks of the tricolor.

Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, was in charge of appointing Del Moral to head the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported the following appointments:

What does Amexcid do?

The Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) was created on September 28, 2011, it has specific powers to address issues related to International Development Cooperation.

”For us, Cooperating is sharing the best of Mexico to face global challenges and grow together. In Mexico and the world we work hand in hand with specialists and build strategic alliances with the private and academic sectors, civil society and local governments; to coordinate, plan and evaluate our Cooperation and Promotion efforts (educational, cultural and tourism, technical and scientific, financial and economic). With this we develop capabilities to contribute to sustainable human development, reduce inequality and improve people’s quality of life,” the mission says on its official website.

Through Amexicd, Mexico offers and receives development cooperation.

”On the one hand, we share successful experiences, strengthen capacities and exchange human, technical and financial resources with developing countries, particularly in Central America and the Caribbean. On the other hand, we work with strategic partners to enhance our capabilities, improve our institutions and generate tangible results that strengthen Mexico,” he points out.
