Former President Varela describes an unfair trial against him for the Odebrecht case

After the Third Criminal Cases Liquidator Court headed by Judge Baloisa Marquínez decided to include former President Juan Carlos Varela in the trial for the Odebrecht case, he described the judicial process against him as unfair.

Through a statement, he assured that he will face this process convinced of his “innocence” and stressed that this is nothing more than a political strategy used by the ruling party.

He specified that this trial against him is armed to divert the attention of the people regarding the expenses that were made during the covid-19 pandemic.

He indicated that all of his bank, financial, and asset information has already been revealed to the prosecution, which verified that there is no traceability of money that did not go to his political campaign.
