The former president of the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (Apede), Héctor Cotes, referred this Monday to the state of emergency that the country is going through due to the Covid-19 pandemic and initially referred to the subsidies, highlighting that these have to be temporary and focused.

He specified that economic reactivation is already being discussed with the Government and the private sector, and there are already proposals for different actions that can be carried out, we just have to see how we can act.

He said that employment capacity must be injected into the economy in the areas of tourism, construction, and trade. “We need a balance, we need that other sectors can also be activated to generate the conditions for more jobs and more jobs, not only in Panama City but throughout the entire country,” he said.
