The former President of the Republic, Ricardo Lagos, referred to the severe setback suffered by the Government of President Gabriel Boric in the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies after the rejection of the idea of legislating the tax reform bill. In his opinion, the decision includes a series of consequences.
Specifically, the former president assured that “the rejection of the idea of legislating on tax reform agreed by the Chamber of Deputies has serious negative repercussions for the country. This decision means the postponement of the discussion of the reform for one year.”

“I know how difficult it is to legislate on taxes, I suffered it during my government. In the same way, I have no doubt that the country needs a tax treatment expressed in sustainable laws over time. That is what the majority of the Chamber has interrupted for a year,” Lagos added to Ex-ante.
Along these lines, the former head of state called it “inadmissible” that “a Chamber of the National Congress refuses to debate an issue of such importance to the country.” Likewise, he took advantage of sending a message to the opposition, pointing out that “they were in debt.”
“This time the right has been left in debt with the Chilean men and women, we all hope that it rectifies and resumes the path of dialogue and understanding,” Ricardo Lagos sentenced.
