Former President ANJE advocates for the professionalization of the Police

Ex presidente ANJE aboga por profesionalización de la Policía

The former president of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), Guillermo Julian Jimenez considered this Wednesday that the authorities of the National Police They must put more effort into the professionalization of their agents in the face of the process carried out by the uniformed to prepare more than 37 thousand members of the institution.

During a visit to the Director General of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then, Jiménez advocated a longer training period for the agents than has been the case up to now.

«Now with the reform process, one of the most critical and fundamental points in my opinion is the issue of training the agents who have to go through the academy, which have to last at least one year, before they lasted up to three months and then they made him a police officer and went out on patrol without any training,” he said.

However, the businessman valued the work being carried out by the uniformed police to achieve police reform as announced by the Government, whose purpose is to ensure that the body of order becomes part of the solution and not the problem as it happened in the past. .

“A series of measures are being implemented, for example the National Police was 87 years old and had never been audited, pending issues are being reviewed,” he asserted.

Guillermo Julián lamented that criminal actions keep the population in constant anxiety, which he said feels prey to antisocials, a situation that is reflected daily through traditional media and social networks.

“Certainly the pandemic produced a rebound in crime in statistical terms. The National Police, together with the reform commissioner, has established a reform process,” Jiménez said.

The businessman said that the National Police is taking “accurate” steps towards eradicating crime for the benefit of Dominicans who “yearn for and deserve to live in a safe country.”
