Judge Karla García Zepeda, of the Sixth District Court Specialized in Violence in Managua, sentenced former police officer José Domingo Matamoros Castillo to a minimum sentence of eight years in prison for the crime of rape against a young woman from the capital, revealed Office 505.
In addition, he was sentenced to one year in prison for the crime of usurpation of public functions, because at the time of committing the crime he had allegedly already been discharged, although he was wearing a police uniform.
Both the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense attorney Marcos Ramón Rojas asked the court to impose the minimum sentence on the former police officer. The request was made on July 1 when the perpetrator admitted the facts.

The media indicated that on July 15, the judge issued the sentence and imposed the prison sentence that was requested on the grounds that José Domingo Matamoros admitted the facts and had no judicial record.
The former police officer will serve a nine-year prison sentence for both crimes in the Jorge Navarro de Tipitapa Penitentiary System, known as “La Modelo.”
The judicial file number 012627-ORM4-2022-PN indicates that the victim is a 21-year-old girl and that the events took place in the surroundings of the old Dennis Martínez National Stadium, in Managua.
According to the accusing body, the accused traveled on a motorcycle driven by Junior Enrique Alonzo Hurtado, who allegedly carried out patrols in District Two of Managua, when they found a couple having sexual relations inside a vehicle; The victim’s boyfriend got out of the car and Matamoros told him that they were doing something prohibited and that they would be fined five hundred dollars.
The perpetrator got into the vehicle and took them to another, more solitary place, while the other ex-police officer was behind them on the motorcycle. Then the victim’s boyfriend and Junior Enrique Alonzo allegedly went to an ATM to withdraw her money, leaving the young woman with Matamoros Castillo, who sexually abused her.
In the case of Junior Enrique Alonzo Hurtado, Judge Karla García Zepeda sentenced the former police officer to one year in prison for the crime of usurping public functions.
