The former Minister of Health Eidy Roca clarified that she is not asking for safe conduct, but rather a “temporary uprooting” to save her life due to a serious illness that she is going through and that needs to be treated abroad.
“I do not ask for safe conduct, I ask for temporary uprooting to save my life. The legal formalities were fulfilled. Deadlines are not respected. I ask for justice and claim my elementary rights to health and life. I have not yet received an official response to my letter addressed to the president (Luis Arce) ”, expressed Roca through her Twitter account.
On April 19, a video of ex-minister Roca was released, who was observed with visibly deteriorated health and almost unable to articulate her words.
In said material, Roca reported that she has sent a note to President Arce asking him to let her leave Bolivia in order to receive urgent medical care abroad.
The following day, the Minister of the Presidency, María Nela Prada, responded in a press conference that it is not “at all” for the head of state or any minister or member of the Executive branch to authorize Roca’s departure.
“Your request and the medical discharges must be presented before the Judicial Branchwho must assess them to determine their departure, ”said Prada.
