Former member Hugo Hoyama announced, on Tuesday (30), that he is at home after performing heart surgery on September 22. According to a medical report released by the Heart Hospital (HCor), in São Paulo, Hugo suffered an acute myocardial infarction.
“Thank you very much to everyone who sent me messages, wanted strength and were by my side during this period. Each word made a difference. I’m already home! I thank God. First, to my family, who was with me at all times. You are the reason for my existence,” said Hugo Hoyama in a message published on his profile on social networks.
On September 22, the former member was underwent revascularization surgery, a procedure that opens new paths, through grafts, to the circular blood around blocked or narrowed arteries.

Hugo Hoyama is Brazil’s second largest gold medalist in Pan American games and Brazilian table tennis record holder in the competition. There are 15 trips to the podium, ten at the top. In addition, he participated in eight Olympics, between 1992 (Barcelona, Spain) and 2021 (Tokyo, Japan), six as an athlete and two – one of them, Rio de Janeiro, in 2016 – as a coach of the women’s team.
