In an interview for Successful, the retired commander specified that before his unusual departure, a meeting had been held with generals and colonels with whom the progress of the PNP during his administration was reviewed. “We had made a great commitment to strengthen our institution and we were on that path, where our Minister of the Interior also participated. He was at that meeting, and he has seen the progress of our police.”explained Vera Llerena.
“How can he say, wrongly, that we have not met the objectives of citizen security? He has congratulated all the generals and colonels”questioned the former head of the PNP who pointed out that the justifications presented by Minister Huerta constitute “an offense to the institution. (…) We have had good results and it is not possible, with very light words, to harm the institution at this time”criticized the retired policeman.
