Former head of Asset Forfeiture in Colombia arrested for corruption

The Colombian Attorney General’s Office captured the former director of Asset Forfeiture of the entity Ana Catalina Noguera, for allegedly being part of a network that leaked data to the mafia. The arrest took place on the morning of this Monday, February 3, at 11:30 a.m.

Noguera served as specialized director of Forfeiture of Domain Rights during the past administration; and she was the delegate against Criminal Finance for a few months in 2020 and left the entity.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Noguera’s arrest is part of an investigation that is being followed for alleged acts of judicial corruption in which the former server would be linked.

In addition to the former official, said the Prosecutor’s Office, several members of the National Police are also being investigated; among which are Colonel Ricardo Alberto Durán, who belonged to the SIU Interagency group, and two former officials from the same place, patrolman Anderson Jesús Alva Contreras and mayor Jhon Fredy Redondo Bautista. In addition to Carlos Ramón Zapata, known by the alias of El Médico and who faced investigations for drug trafficking.

“For these events, the patrolman Alva Contreras, the mayor Redondo Bautista, and alias El Médico have already accepted charges,” added the prosecutor’s office.

A prosecutor delegated before the Court will present the defendant in guarantee control hearings and will charge her with the crimes of procedural fraud, illegal violation of communication and violation of personal data.

The Prosecutor’s Office stressed that it has sufficient probative material and technical evidence to support this judicial action that will contribute to having clarity about what happened and establishing the corresponding criminal responsibilities.
