The former governor of São Paulo João Doria announced this fourthon Friday (19) his disaffiliation from the PSDB, after 22 years in the party. On the social network, the former toucan said that he ends the stage “with his head held high”.
“Inspired by social democracy and by names such as Franco Montoro, Mário Covas, José Serra and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, I fulfilled my political-party mission based on the excellence of public management and a fairer and less unequal society.
With my mission accomplished, I leave my thanks and the firm wish that the PSDB has an attentive look at its great past, in search of inspiration for the future. And always in defense of democracy, freedom and social progress in Brazil,” he said on his Twitter account.
Doria also said that he is proud of the contribution he was able to make to São Paulo and Brazil, “thanks to the generosity and trust of all those who chose my name in three primaries and two elections”.
