Last week, Lima hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) 2024which brought together the leaders of 21 economies, consolidating its role as an important player in the Asia-Pacific region. Elmer Schialer, current Foreign Minister of Peru, received multiple praise for his impeccable conduct of the forum.
A group of former foreign ministers and former vice ministers of Foreign Affairs issued a statement to congratulate Schialer and Torre Tagle for their outstanding work in the planning and development of the event.
In the document, they recognized the significant commitments and bilateral agreements achieved during APEC, describing them as “an expression of the professional work that Torre Tagle has been carrying out for many years to increase Peru’s ties with the Asia-Pacific region for the benefit of our population.” .
The statement also included special recognition to the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Diplomatic Service, as well as to the diplomatic, administrative and service officials who, with effort and dedication, contributed to the achievements obtained in this important meeting.
Among the notable results, agreements were concluded in key sectors such as agriculture and commerce, strengthening Peru’s economic and strategic relations with the region.
