Former Education Minister Roberto Fulcar brings Máximo Castillo Salas to justice for defamation

SANTO DOMINGO.– The former Minister of Education Roberto Fulcar brought to justice Maximo Castillo Salas, whom he accuses of defaming him through electronic means.

The complaint with constitution in civil party was filed by Julito Fulcar, on behalf of his brother Roberto Fulcar before the National District Attorney’s Office, in which Castillo Salas is accused of violating articles 367 and 371 of the Penal Code; and Article 21 of Law 53-07, on High Technology Crimes and Offenses, which classify and penalize defamation committed through electronic means.

The Fulcar family, whose lawyers are Melania Ingrid Hidalgo Martínez and Edwin Acosta, requests the maximum penalty provided for in Law 53-07 in criminal matters and compensation of ten million pesos in civil matters.

The complaint states that Castillo Salas alleged and affirmed, through a YouToube program, that Roberto Fulcar, as a result of his recent trip to the United States, has had contact with North American authorities for the purpose of offering information on drug trafficking actions in favor of of the campaign of personalities, officials of the current government and legislators.

Specifically, the complaint maintains that Castillo Salas accuses Roberto Fulcar of collaborating with the judicial authorities of the United States in the proceedings against former mayor Yamil Abreu and deputy Miguel Gutiérrez, currently deprived of liberty in that country, regarding “an alleged exchange of money from drug trafficking to finance José Ignacio Paliza, current Minister of the Presidency; Eduardo Estrella, current president of the Senate, and the electoral campaign of the current president of the Republic Luis Abinader”.

When requesting the admission of the complaint, Fulcar requested that Castillo Salas be sentenced in criminal proceedings to the maximum penalty established by law in this type of legal offense and in civil matters to the payment of compensation of ten million pesos as fair compensation. for the damages that it would have caused to Roberto Fulcar.
