Former Cuban baseball player Domingo Perdomo died at the age of 92

MÉRIDA, Mexico -. Former Cuban pitcher Domingo Perdomo died in Havana at the age of 92 due to the consequences of hip surgery. Sports journalist Yasel Porto reported this Saturday.

“Some friends were in charge of helping him, first when he was in the hospital and then at home, but loneliness in general was damaging his mood more and more,” he said.

Perdomo’s remains rest in the Colón cemetery in the Cuban capital.

Porto, who planned to visit him soon, described him as one of “those very old veterans who belonged to a special generation of which very few remain.”

Cuban baseball players who died in 2024

So far in 2024, several well-known Cuban former baseball players have died.

In July, the renowned Cuban former baseball player Juan Carlos Calvo He died at the age of 62, according to the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation.

“We regret the death of Juan Carlos Calvo, an emblematic figure of our national series, to which he dedicated himself as a pillar of the Pinero teams. He played shortstop, third base, the outfield and even pitched at different times during six National Series of the thirteen in which he took part since his debut in the 1979-1980 Season.
