The government determined to lower the regional yellow alert in El Maule that was in force due to the forest fires that affect the area.
Now they are concentrated in the largest focus in Longaví called Río Blanco, the one that has the commune on red alert and has consumed 4,958 hectares, according to the Senapred balance.
Meanwhile, in the communes of Curepto, Sagrada Familia and Pencahue, the El Ajial fire was controlled after consuming 3,500 hectares.
In this line, the regional director of Conaf, Aliro Gascón, indicated that “at this minute there is only one fire on red alert, the Río Blanco fire in the Longaví commune, the other fires are controlled and this fire is taking the majority of the resources for its control”.
“However, in the other fires we maintain resources because sometimes it happens that while a fire is not finished off, we definitely have to maintain resources, both human and equipment and machinery,” he added.
“We already have 10 brigades in the Río Blanco fire, two international brigades are going to arrive. We have eight helicopters assigned to that fire,” he concluded.
