The National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci) reported that as of September 30, 20 active forest fires and 29 controlled forest fires were recorded in 10 regions of the country.
The most affected areas are Amazonas and Pasco, with five fires each, followed by Junín, with four, and San Martín and Huánuco, with two each. In addition, Cajamarca and Áncash each register one active fire.
Regarding controlled fires, Ucayali and Amazonas lead with 11 incidents each, followed by Áncash with three, and Cusco, San Martín and Tumbes with one respectively.
To face this emergency, 5,345 troops have been deployed from various institutions such as the Army, the Air Force, the National Police, the Firefighters and personnel from the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation.
