Foreigner arrivals in São Paulo grow 21% in 2025

The state of São Paulo was the country’s main gateway in 2025. Of the more than 9.2 million foreign tourists who were in Brazil last year, around 2.7 million disembarked in the state’s terminals. The data was released this week jointly by Embratur, the Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Police.

The list of foreign visitors who entered the country through São Paulo is led by Americans. In total, 431,478 people from the United States arrived in the state of São Paulo, followed by Argentines, with 391,543 tourists; Chileans, with 173,888; Portuguese, with 118,453; and Germans, with 107,779.

In the month of December alone, 259,237 foreign tourists entered Brazil through São Paulo, a figure 9.6% higher than that recorded in the same month last year.

“The state, which brings together the capital’s traditional tourist attractions, beautiful beaches and opportunities for contact with nature, has established itself as a destination of experiences, where cultural diversity and gastronomy stand out. Our objective is for the destination to grow even more in 2026”, highlighted Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur.

Brazil ended the year 2025 with 9,287,196 international touristswhich represented an increase of 37.1% compared to 2024. The majority of these foreign visitors came from Argentina, which sent 3,386,823 tourists to the country. Next comes Chile, with 801,921 visitors, and the United States, which added 759,637 arrivals to Brazil.
