Foreign Ministry rejects US threats: “They put the peace of the entire region at risk”

For Venezuela, Argentina's request for Maduro's arrest is "retaliation"

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that since the expulsion of the DEA in 2005, Venezuela “has achieved forceful results in the fight against organized crime”

The Maduro administration condemned the threats of the United States and assured that not only “affect Venezuela, but also put at risk the peace and stability of the entire region.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on Tuesday, August 19 in which it described as an act of “despair” of the Donald Trump government threats and defamations against Venezuela.

«The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela observes with total clarity the despair of the US administration, which resorts to threats and defamations against our country. That Washington accuses Venezuela of drug trafficking reveals its lack of credibility and the failure of its policies in the region ».

In the text, Foreign Minister Yván Gil said that the United States action puts the entire region at risk, including the peace zone declared by CELAC.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that since the expulsion of the DEA in 2005, Venezuela “has achieved forceful results in the fight against organized crime: successful catches, dismantling of networks and effective control of borders and coasts.”

This Tuesday, the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, said that the United States is prepared to “use all its power” to stop the “drug flow to her country”, after being questioned about the deployment of three ships with 4,000 soldiers in the waters of the Caribbean near Venezuela.

Faced with questions about sending the troops, Leavitt answered in a press conference that the president, Donald Trump, “is prepared” to stop drug trafficking and “take those responsible to justice.”
