The official newspaper El Peruano announced this Saturday, January 14, the appointment of new consuls in the dependencies of four Latin American countries: Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador and Colombia. These changes were made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. All of them had the signature of President Dina Boluarte; as well as Foreign Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi Díaz. Consuls in the dependencies had not been changed since the government of ex-president Pedro Castillo.
In the case of the plurinational state of Bolivia, Gervasi and Boluarte appointed Czibor Omar Chicata-Sutmöller Sagenschnier to be in charge of the Peruvian Consulate in La Paz. Czibor Omar Chicata has been working in the Executive for a long time, the last position he held was that of director of the Decentralized Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Puno during the government of Pedro Castillo, a region that is currently in the midst of protests against Boluarte.
On the other hand, Patricia Días Cano Bellido was in charge of representing Peru as consul in the town of Machala, in Ecuador; while Willy Germán Salazar Meier will be in charge of the Consulate of Peru in Medellín, Colombia.
Likewise, Alberto Javier Hart Merino was appointed as consul of our country in the city of Mendoza, in Argentina.
In this sense, it was provided that all these appointments announced by the Executive will be confirmed by means of a Ministerial Resolution from the Foreign Ministry, through which the aforementioned officials may assume functions.
These changes occur in the midst of the announcement made by Ana Cecilia Gervasi in mid-December of last year, where it was announced that the ambassadors of Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, and Argentina would be consulted; “In reaction to the meddling in the internal affairs of Peru by the highest authorities of the aforementioned countries,” as she mentioned.
