“You as parliamentarians and leaders of the Latin American and Caribbean people have a great responsibility: to maintain an active voice, active mobilization and demand an end to all types of aggressions that want to be imposed against the Caribbean, as stated by the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, during the meeting of Parliamentarians of the Greater Caribbean for Peace that is taking place in Caracas.
In his speech, he denounced, once again, the aggressions and extravagant threats that the United States has deployed in the Caribbean, which includes the presence of a military fleet, warships, nuclear submarines, missiles, among others, that threaten all the peoples of the region.
“All this is the summary of a long list of aggressive hostile actions against the Bolivarian people, which began in the beginning with the demonization of the revolutionary Government, with media war, bad position of our government, and escalated more and more, for 26 years, until producing a coup d’état, blockades, sabotage, economic sanctions. They have used all available resources to do harm,” he said.
However, the Venezuelan foreign minister stressed that, this time, the United States’ aggression against the Bolivarian nation is a more serious action, since it threatens “terrible consequences” for the entire region.
“The destabilization of this area, which was declared a peace zone in 2014, is one of the first consequences that we could experience if military intervention were decided (…) It would not be Venezuela that would pay the most regrettable consequences, we are talking about neighboring countries: Colombia, Brazil, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago would suffer the most tragic consequences,” he said after affirming that the Bolivarian nation is prepared in perfect popular-military-police fusion and with a patriotic and sovereign sense.
Therefore, he stated that this parliamentary meeting must promote the appropriate roadmap to guide the people in victory to guarantee peace. “It is up to us to defend the interests of our Caribbean people, banish the presence of nuclear weapons and aircraft carriers from the Caribbean, and advance together in prosperity (…) that allows the people of the Caribbean to build a destiny of independence, free and sovereign,” he stated.
