The Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Thursday with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (DDHH), Volker Türk.
The meeting – broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión – took place at Casa Amarilla, headquarters of the Foreign Ministry.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, the Venezuelan foreign minister pointed out that, during the meeting, the progress of the National Government regarding this matter was reviewed, as well as the need to lift the sanctions.
«In a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, invited by Pdte. @NicolasMadurowe review the progress of the Bolivarian Government, and we convey the need to lift the illegal sanctions that cause so much damage to the rights of the people! “, he wrote on the social network.
On the afternoon of this Thursday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, arrived in Venezuela, who will fulfill a work agenda in the country.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights will be of visit in Caracas from January 26 to 28.
This, in response to the invitation made by President Nicolás Maduro.
This is the second visit made to Venezuela by a UN High Commissioner, the first being that of the former president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, during her tenure as High Commissioner in 2019.
