The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Carlos Faría, held a meeting on Monday with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, within the framework of the 77th General Assembly of the organization.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, Faría pointed out that during the meeting he presented the social and economic progress of Venezuela to the UN Secretary General.
“We spoke with the Secretary General of the #UN @antonioguterreson the social and economic progress of #VENEZUELA led by Pdte. @NicolasMadurowhich have made it possible to begin to overcome the effects of unilateral coercive measures imposed by imperialism on our people,” Faria wrote on his Twitter account.
The Venezuelan foreign minister arrived in New York City this Monday to participate in the United Nations activity, which will start this Tuesday, September 20, with the speech of the US president, Joe Biden, for being the host country .
It also plans to participate in various activities on international issues, including education, which will have its own summit, and sustainable development, through the UN 2030 Agenda.
Faría’s Agenda at the UN
After finishing the meeting with the Secretary General of the UN, the Foreign Minister, Carlos Faría, held a meeting with his Nicaraguan counterpart, Denis Moncada, to strengthen relations of friendship and solidarity between both nations.
“We have talked with the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister @DenisChancellor with whom we reaffirm the mutual commitment to strengthen our historic relationship of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity between Nicaragua and Venezuela. We move forward together in making Bolivar’s Supreme Dream a reality,” Faría posted on the social network Twitter.
Later, he met with his counterpart from Palestine, Riad Malki, in the framework of the 77th Anniversary of the UN General Assembly.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, the foreign minister pointed out that, on behalf of Venezuela, he expressed unrestricted support “in the face of the violence suffered by the Palestinian people” by the Israeli forces.
“We had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Palestine, Riad Malki, at the 77th Period of Sessions of the UN General Assembly, ratifying the unrestricted support of the Venezuelan Government in the face of the violence suffered by the Palestinian people by the occupation forces. Foreign Minister Faría also held a meeting with his counterpart from Suriname, Albert Ramdin, to review the cooperation agreements in the political, financial, agricultural, energy and cultural framework.
