Father Chelo expressed his concern about what he described as an “identity crisis” that, in his opinion, affects today’s society and distances people from God.
During his reflection, he maintained that when the human being loses his identity “loses meaning, direction and spiritual horizon”, and affirmed that the world has been leaving aside the purpose for which, according to the Christian faith, it was created.
The priest questioned the currents that promote new forms of personal identification and considered that these phenomena reflect a loss of spiritual foundation.
- Citing Genesis 1:27, he recalled that man and woman were created “in the image and likeness of God,” with soul, will and freedom. He also mentioned John 8:32, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free,” to emphasize that, from his perspective, true freedom is found in the truth revealed by God.
Father Chelo made a called to parents to guide their children from faith no longer renounce, as he said, the responsibility of guiding them spiritually.
He stressed that love must be accompanied by formation and clarity about human identity, insisting that each person is “son of God” and It has its own dignity.
