The National Assembly suspended for the second time the summons scheduled for this Tuesday, April 5, to the director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Enrique Lau Cortés, to answer a 15-question questionnaire on the problems facing the entity.
It was known that Lau arrived at the legislative chamber and suddenly left, so the summons was suspended without even meeting.
Miguel Fanovich, vice president of the Assembly, said that Lau Cortés left the Chanchoré room without giving any explanations.
According to the deputy, this is the fourth time that the director of the CSS does not comply with the call to account.
Last week, Lau Cortés did not attend the summons approved by the plenary session and sent a note to the president of the Assembly, Crispiano Adames, requesting an extension of seven days to answer the questionnaire.
The citation of the head of the CSS before the plenary session was approved by the Assembly last Tuesday, March 15.
Among the questions that Lau Cortés will have to answer are the problems that the CSS is facing, the contract that the CSS made with the company Promed, SA for the supply of equipment for a hemodialysis room in the Santo Tomás Hospital; on the theft and shortage of medicines in the Social Security facilities and on the expenses that the entity has incurred in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
