The lawyer Francisco ‘Paco’ Carreira, ran on the morning of this Monday, June 6, as a candidate for the presidency of the Republic 2024. The jurist will participate by free application.
Carreira, who is the leader of the Unity Political Movement, assured that for years the candidates of the traditional parties have lied to the country, he also stressed the importance of purging the Assembly so that a better government reaches everyone.
“Panamanians are tired of seeing how between groups of the same or opposite parties, they continue to agree to benefit from the riches, while the people look for what to put on the table every day,” he said, stating that by 2024 a bench of 40 independent deputies, committed to the Homeland, to tidy up that State body and end patronage.
The lawyer stressed that for the 2024 elections there is a disadvantage between independent candidates and those from political parties since the rules of the game established by the Electoral Tribunal, in his opinion, are unequal.
Regarding government management, he pointed out that it has been characterized by “corruption”, “inefficiency” and “indolence”. He questioned the fact that independent candidates are prohibited from participating in inaugurations of works and state events, while Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo used a state helicopter to campaign for the Democratic Revolutionary Party.
He added that there are no decent schools for the teaching-learning process to achieve its objective; There is no highway with more circulation channels for West Panama and the park in the north continues to be a promise, due to the “play alive” of the authorities.
Carreira pointed out that May 2024, with the independents, is the great opportunity that the people have to change the course of the country.
