Santo Domingo.- The hearing to request a measure of coercion against those involved in the case Fedopemfor defrauding the State in the area of sports, was postponed for the second time, to next Friday at 2:00 in the afternoon.
The postponement was due to the fact that the defense of one of the accused wanted to study the file requesting a preventive measure provided by the Public Ministry, which consists of 757 pages, as well as 200 pieces of evidence.
According to the head of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution against Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho, they have provided sufficient evidence of how funds were stolen from the Dominican Federation of Modern Pentathlon (Fedopem), so they hope preventive detention will be issued. and declare the complex case.
Freddy Núñez and Anibal Evaristo Ozoria, president and treasurer of Fedopem, are implicated in the case, who would have handled about 19 million pesos from 2020 to 2023.
“There’s no reason to drop dead”
According to Olianna García, Ozoria’s lawyer, he is accused of the theft of one million 332 thousand pesos, through checks, but which the defense had not verified until now.
García highlighted the virtues of his client, describing him as humble and honest, and that according to his family and friends of María Trinidad Sánchez “he has nothing to die about.”
Ozoria, visibly affected when he left the court, was defended by his brother Félix Ozoria, who expressed his annoyance that his relative was used by Freddy.
He commented that “he (Anibal) signed the checks to leave them blank for that thief and he (Freddy) put it in the name of whoever he wanted.”
