For the second consecutive day Zulia leads the covid-19 figures this #17Jun

In the last 24 hours, 130 new cases were registered and no deaths. Zulia reported 36 infections, distributed in five of its 29 municipalities; most in Maracaibo


“824 days after the pandemic in Venezuela, we report that during the last 24 hours the country registered 130 cases, 125 due to community transmission and five imported,” Freddy Ñañez (Alfred Nazareth in social networks) Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism.

In this period, no deaths from the Wuhan virus were reported.

“We continue without reporting deaths, we maintain the figure of 5,724 throughout the national territory,” Nazareth clarified.

Creole and imported

Regarding the discrimination of infections, he explained that of the five imported cases, three come from the Dominican Republic and two from Panama, “all with entry through La Guaira.”

Zulia at the top

The official explained that Zulia was the region, which for the second consecutive day, registered the highest number of infections, in five of its 21 municipalities: Maracaibo with 29; Mara, Miranda and San Francisco with two per jurisdiction; and Jesús Enrique Lossada with one.

After the figures for this June 17, the country adds, according to government records -since the start of the pandemic, in March 2020- a total of 524,718 confirmed cases, 1,350 active cases and 517,644 recovered people, which represents 99% of infections.

836 asymptomatic patients

“To date we have 836 patients who are asymptomatic, 417 with mild acute respiratory failure, 72 with moderate acute respiratory failure and 25 in the Intensive Care Unit,” explained the official.
