Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.– Dominican Republic was selected as the venue for the UN General Assembly Tourism in 2027, as decided at the 26th meeting of the United Nations body, which takes place in the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The Minister of Tourism, David Colladothanked the recognition and highlighted that the designation constitutes an award for Dominican management that, he said, “has transformed the way of tourism in the region.”
Collado affirmed that the country’s leadership continues to rise within world tourism and assured that the Dominican Republic sets the tourist course for the continent.
The choice of Santo Domingo as the venue was approved by resolution, in recognition of the sustained growth of Dominican tourism and its leading role in Latin America.
Recently, UN Tourism named David Collado “Minister of Tourism of the Americas,” marking the first time that distinction has been granted.
In the current assembly, the country is represented by the Vice Minister of Tourism, Carlos Peguero.
