For the first quarter of 2022, the start of operations of terminal two of the Tocumen International Airport is evaluated.

This was revealed this Tuesday, February 15, by the company Tocumen, SA, which clarified that all the authorities involved in the sector also participate in this process.

According to Tocumen, SA, “despite the breach of the contractor CNO, SA” in the total delivery of the work, most of the facilities are suitable for passenger use.

Raffoul Arab, general manager of Tocumen, SA, explained that the opening of terminal two “is a complex process, which is not limited to opening doors and boarding bridges.”

Arab recalled that in this process of starting operations, the activation of communications systems, equipment and personnel for procedures related to passengers and baggage must be taken into account.

Terminal two has 116 thousand square meters and 20 boarding gates and will allow the air terminal to process up to 20 million passengers annually. Construction began in 2013 and should have been delivered in 2017.
