He Government of Colombia began an update process that facilitates and reduces the costs of issuing the passport. According to the classification in Sisbén, some families may have a special discount.
Passport modifications
Since last October 3, it came into force a new model for applying for and issuing a passport with the aim of simplifying and making your acquisition faster and more accessible.
Due to the use of advanced technologies that will help optimize the manufacturing process, the original passport has experienced a significant reduction in cost, going from $207,000 to $180,000.
For Colombians living in Europe and Cuba, the new price will be 60 euros, while for the rest of the world it will be 82 dollars.
In addition, those who have processed their passport since 2017 have the possibility of managing the renewal and issuance completely online.
These improvements are part of a transition process that will culminate on September 1, 2025, when the National Printing Office of Colombia will take charge of the control of the issuance of passports, with the advice of the Portuguese government, taking over from the current company in charge, Thomas Greg & Sons.
