“We celebrate the agreement reached between the governments of Colombia and the United States, which represents a fundamental step to overcome the crisis“, said the president of AmCham Colombia, María Claudia Lacouture.
The directive refers to the fact that Colombia agreed to receive the deported compatriots since The United States would no longer impose economic sanctions and increased tariffs on exports from Colombian soil.
It must be remembered that the North American country, in response to Petro’s refusal to not receive the flights with the deportees, announced that would raise tariffs up to 50% and impose fiscal, banking and financial sanctions on Colombia.
“The most important thing is that our compatriots will soon be received in Colombia, guaranteeing their right to return to their country. Likewise, we highlight the importance that no tariffs will be imposed on Colombian products, and that, subject to verification of the reception process of deportees, the special immigration procedures provided for by the United States Government will be lifted.“said Lacouture.

Dialogue and cooperation must continue to be the basis of our bilateral relationship“, closed the official.
The agreement between Colombia and the United States
The United States reported that Colombia accepted all of President Trump’s terms, including “unrestricted” acceptance of all Colombian illegal aliens deported from the United States,”even on US military aircraft, without limitation or delay“.
US authorities said that economic sanctions and increased tariffs would be kept in reserve and would not be signed, “unless Colombia does not comply with this agreement.”
