The Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira, said on Thursday (20) that it is already possible to find foods with more affordable prices in supermarkets in the country. In an interview with radio stations during the Bom Dia program, minister, he evaluated, however, that prices need to fall even more.
“If you go to the supermarket today, you will see that the prices are much better than a month or two. It is the time for the people to experience [a queda dos preços]. But there is a lot to do yet. The products will download more. We have to take all the measures to lower product prices. ”
Teixeira recalled that food prices in Brazil rose above all in the midst of US elections. “The dollar was $ 5.70 and went to $ 6.30. All foods that are anchored in the dollar, because they are exportable, climbed together, ”explained the minister.
“These foods that are anchored in the dollar as the dollar lowered are lowering. Even the meats are downloading. What is very out of purpose today is the egg. We are doing a study of these foods that are out of the curve, meat and egg, sugar, coffee and orange. ”
