The governor, Andrés Julián Rendón, said that his greatest concern occurs basically in rural areas, where The vast majority of affected minors are from indigenous communities.
“This is a priority matter. It is important that you help us to be very alert, to create protocols, roads and communication vehicles, that you know that we are your allies and the first co-responsible in the fight against the scourge of hunger. This cannot be done without the help of you who are in the territory. “Here there is a technical team and there are resources, certainly not enough, but those that have never existed here,” Governor Andrés Julián told the attending leaders.

After the declaration, the Government of Antioquia will increase epidemiological surveillance in all subregions, and will strengthen the comprehensive care route.
From the regions, with the mayors, several commitments were made: one of them will be to intensify surveillance in each of the vulnerable territories, as pointed out by the mayor of Frontino, Luz Gabriela Rivera.
“We have the responsibility of the municipalities to carry out constant surveillance, with the health teams, with the educational system and with all the actors, so that we prevent mortality and morbidity associated with malnutrition,” explained the mayor of Frontino, Luz Gabriela Rivera.
To prevent cases of severe malnutrition in the department, in Antioquia, this year, 190 thousand food packages will be delivered and some 26 thousand pregnant and lactating families and families with children under five years of age will be provided with prior accompaniment.
