Fomerrey will be extinguished as a trust and the Commission for the Promotion of Regulation and Housing will be created

Monterey, NL. Fomerrey will be extinguished as a public trust, and the transition process will begin to convert it into the Commission for the Promotion of Regularization and Housing.

The director of Fomerrey, Eugenio Montiel explained that the organization started the countdown so that in 2023, when it celebrates 50 years of existence, it draws up a bill to transform the Housing Institute and adapt all the functions that Fomerrey has today in the new Institute.

He explained that international experiences such as UN Habitat were brought to transform the Housing Institute into the Commission for the Promotion of Regularization and Housing.

“Fomerrey will reach its legal extinction, but not operational, since together with the Housing Institute of Nuevo León, it will become the ruling entity in housing matters in the state,” he stressed.

Fomerrey has granted its own assets to more than 197,000 families in the state through 507 subdivisions in 38 municipalities.

51,695 plots of land known as irregular human settlements have been regularized; 80,000 deeds have been granted; They have supported 20,000 families with self-construction housing programs, with resources from the federation, the state and the municipalities for families affected by different natural catastrophes, fires and floods.

Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda led the event and commented that he would change this trust, “from the name, the structure, the financing, the land, the tasks so that it is easier and faster for all families to have their home, their lot and that legal certainty that supports their land”.

“That everything be much faster, that those who come from outside or the Neolonians themselves do not struggle to regularize what is already theirs, their house, their lot.

The president stressed that a balance must be found to achieve equity without neglecting the generation of wealth.

“If Nuevo León does not aspire to have a level floor for social mobility, we are doomed to failure; but if Nuevo León, its government, its people really want to be the best place to be born, grow, educate and live, we have to dedicate the money, the time and all the desire for them to have a decent life.”

During the event, the governor delivered deeds to families from the municipalities of Monterrey, Apodaca, Santa Catarina and Escobedo, who from
