Follow the audiovisual contest aimed at secondary students

Hoy Paraguay

High school students from public, private and subsidized schools have until November 21 to submit their videos to the “Education in 90 seconds” contest, run by the organization Juntos por la Educación, in which they can create and share stories related to the education. The objective is that students become involved as strategic actors in the improvement of education.

In this political-electoral context, it is important to raise the voice of young people on what are the main demands of education. To do this, students from all over the country are invited to create and share a story about any aspect, problem or challenge at the individual, community or national level related to education as a fundamental human right and public good.

You can participate in the contest freely and for free, students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of Secondary Education from public, private and subsidized schools from Paraguay, registering here.

Contestant materials must be sent via email to [email protected] until November 21, 2022.

It’s news today: Mario Abdo announces use of assets in his political campaign

So far, seven teams of students from schools located in Canindeyú, Itapúa, Asunción and Central have registered, proposing topics such as the difficulties and sacrifices of students when studying, social barriers, how to study in a boarding school without the presence of family members, lack of teacher training, bullying. They even propose software for students who use the Internet to prioritize school obligations over distractions.

“The role of young people in these processes of change in education is essential. Although we are experiencing a process of educational crisis that we have been dragging on for years, we have seen that the participation of young people achieved far-reaching changes in public policy. We believe that these are fundamental moments where the voice of young people must be strengthened, since they have a lot to say and so that the candidates also take their visions and ideas into consideration. So we encourage everyone to participate in this space,” said Oscar Charotti, Executive Director of Together for Education.

Selection process

10 finalist stories will be selected; 5 chosen by the public through voting on social networks and 5 selected by a jury of specialists. Of these 10 stories, 3 will be awarded with smartphones, tablets, books, and free passes to the movies for a year.

The jury’s evaluation will prioritize the quality of the story, the relevance of the content, creativity and innovation. Those stories that go beyond diagnosis and propose ideas or alternative solutions to educational and social problems will be especially taken into account. The use of data from the educational reality that can be found at: www.observatorio.org.py is encouraged.

The jury will be in charge of selecting the three best stories: the first, the second and the third. Among the members of the jury will be the participation of the renowned filmmaker Marcelo Martinessi.

All the information from this campaign will be disseminated on the Facebook and Instagram accounts of Together for Education.
