After the high number of sources of forest fires that have occurred between this Wednesday and Saturday amid high temperatures forecast for the area and strong winds.

The largest number of fires are concentrated in the Ñuble and Bío Bío regions, where there are already more than 150 homes affected and hundreds of hectares affected, with families that have had to be evacuated from their homes due to the danger of the advance of the flames.

To know the status of the main outbreaks in Chile and in the world, the tool can be used SIGNS NASA, acronym for Fire Information Management System.

The website uses the images obtained by the Landsat, VIIRS and MODIS satellite systems to estimate both the location and the dimensions of the flames on a relief map.

NASA describes FIRMS as a system close to real time, since the satellites update their data with a periodicity that goes from 1 to 3 and up to 6 hours, depending on the path of the orbit of the devices.
